Jacuzzi Premium Hot Tubs used 2 types of pumps in their spas. The first is the "Circulation" pump. The second is one or two "Jet" pumps.

Circulation Pumps:

Most model have a circulation pump and runs 24/7 except in summer. Some boards have a "summer logic" that will turn this circ pump off if the spa starts overheating.

The benefit with having the circulation pump running 24 hours is to allow the ozonator  and chemicals to be fully used to keep the water clean.

Jacuzzi Hot Tubs uses the same type circ pump except a few are 115v instead of the standard 230v. Jacuzzi Hot Tubs just introduced the "E" series 230v circ pump that runs cooler with less power and still moves the water properly.

JET PUMPS:

They can be either 1 or 2 speed. A few are 115vac but most are 230v. The older generation had the motor and base welded together. The new generation has a base with a strap and the newer pump motor has no base. So you can replace just the motor and not the base. It also allows for a large adjustment freedom.

As a rule of thumb, you can used an oversized motor on a smaller pump but not the opposite. The pump being the wetend or the end moving water and mounts to the motor.
